I am in Australia and was told about the 16 Gauge Society which I immediately joined as I have been using the 16g for years. I am particularly interested in the Low Pressure Group as I am using an old German Drilling and don't wish to knock it around anymore than I need to. Unfortunately there is absolutely no reloading data in Australia for 2&1/2" inch hulls. I sent via Paypal $25US to join but am unsure if this is for joining just the 16 Gauge Society, the Low Pressure Group or both. Any information would be greatly appreciated. |

Please add me to the reloading list. I hunt a variety of birds, quail, pheasant, grouse, ducks and geese. I have a Fox Sterlingworth sxs, browning sweet 16 and remington 1100. I have a mec progressive loader and am interested in loading both lead and nontox, but no steel. |

Howdy. I am very glad I happened on to this site. I have been a combo shooter forever, and have recently got a drilling in 16gauge, that will probably only be taken out on Sundays in July..........
I have assembled all of the components, and would sure like to get access to safe data to start trying this out.
Thanks.

Still learning how the site works. Would like to join the low pressure group. Just purchased a Tom Bland and Sons 16 gauge circa 1870. The lowest pressure shell available in Canada is the Kent Gamebore in 2 1/2 inch. This is a good quality brand but a little strong at approx. 8000 psi. The RST and Polywad unfortunately are not available up in the great white north. Looks like reloading is the way to go. I claim total rookie status. Grouse season opens September 10th. With a little help I could be ready. |

I would be very interested in joining the low pressure loading group. I have been loading 16 ga shells for 20 years and it has become harder and harder. I do still have a fair stock pile of winchester compression hulls and activ hulls but have recently purchased a few hundred primed cheddite hulls and need some low pressure loads for my Elsie. Thanks for your time. |

How do I go about joining the Low Pressure Group and getting data? Is the group still active?

Go to the first page of this thread. Scroll down to the third post by member RWG. Russ runs the Low Pressure Group on Yahoo. Click on PM and send him a personal message asking how to join our group. Pretty simple. I believe the one time cost is still $20. |

Have a 1925 simpson suhl that I enjoy using for bird hunting/shooting. A friend of mine provided some low pressure reloads to shoot and they were fantastic. Busted the clays (and the birds) with minimal recoil.
New to reloading and see the link to the google spreadsheets. The pressures on these recipes are anywhere from 8-11,000 psi. Is it fair to assume that low pressure (what old guns were designed to shoot) are anywhere below 9,500 psi? Might not be a definitive answer but I'd be curious to hear what people think constitutes low pressure. |

I have no idea why people worry about low pressure. If your gun is in such sorry state, that you are worried about shooting 9k psi in it, I wouldn't be shooting it. Secondly, the weight of shot you are using will be far harder on older guns (if you are worried about wood and old parts) than pressure.
stop worrying about pressures. |
