Can you guys help me with what's a fair price for a 16 ga. 525?

Basically, it's in like new condition. If it's been fired, it hasn't been fired much. 26" barrels w/ 3 chokes.

I know it's not a lot of information, but I'm just looking for a general idea.[/list]

The wholesale price of 525 field grade 16 gauges 2 years ago was $1,499, on sale - i know this because I ordered a citori white lightning for $1,399, and was debating between the two. There is currently a used field grade 525 on gunbroker.com with the same diminsions/condition as the one you are describing that is listed for $1,449, no reserve starting bid. It hasn't sold after being posted for over 1 month now, so maybe this is a little higher than what most folks are wiling to pay. About a year ago, I saw one on gunbroker.com (same dininsions/condition) with a starting bid of $1,250/$1,350 "buy it now". It sold immediately for the "buy-it-now" price - i know this because I was outbid on this auction.

I'm not a dealer, but I follow the gunbroker.com auctions pretty frequently and am always looking for a good deal on a 16 o/u. Hope this helps

The 2010 release of 16 ga Citoris makes it worth a bit less in my opinion. Just a matter of supply and demand.

I would consider $1200 a fair price for both involved.

I bought mine a year ago for 1495.00. It has five choke tubes. The dealer I bought it from included the shipping.

Regards, Gordon

I found a pre-owned 525 that's a year old which has never been fired (supposedly). Along w/ 8 boxes of shells and a hard case...$1400.

I wish I would have seen SPR310's citori that he has listed for $1100 before I committed to the 525.

Oh well, I feel like I got a pretty good deal anyhow.

It seems like I see a lot on gunbroker that are pushing $1700-$1800...but they don't sell like hotcakes either.

As a reference point, one of the Scheels stores (Iowa City?) has a NIB w/warranty 525 for $1400 right now.

Warranty?

Browning's subjective warranty against "manufacturing defects" to the original purchaser that sometimes applies and sometimes doesn't. It tends to apply more frequently when a big dealer like Scheels is filing the claim.

Is the "subjective" comment based on personal experience or something else? I have heard the complaints about the speed of Browning's service centers, but not about Browning willingness to stand behind their products. I am not trying to stir the pot, just genuinely curious.

Regards.

It used to be that Browning didn't publicly state a warranty, but they took care of things they thought were their fault. They were the final judge of what they'd do and what they wouldn't.

I'm not positive it's still the case, but I haven't heard of another warranty.

Gents,
My 525 Sporting NIB with 32" barrels and 5 ext chokes cost me ~$1600 with shipping and transfer about 2 years ago. I was told Browning was clearing out the last of their previous run. I'm very glad I hit the "Buy it Now" button when it popped up on Gunbroker. Don't know if we'll ever see that particular configuration again.
Cheers,
R*2
