Just thought I'd introduce myself, I recently purchased my first 16 gauge ever, an H&R Topper 88 made in 1980. I've owned almost every other gauge at one time or another but wanted to see what the 16 was all about and these guns are an affordable way to go about it. This gun has a mod choked 28" barrel and weighs approximately 5.5 lbs with a near perfect balance. It's nothing fancy but it's a solid, well made gun. I plan on using it for turkeys, partridges and general banging around the woods.

Best hitting shotgun I ever had was a 20 ga Topper, back in the early sixties. I've bought several others since, and a number of much more upscale guns. Now if I could just get my 16 year old eyes and reflexes back.......... |

Thanks everyone. This will also give me an excuse to get into reloading the 16 gauge. I currently reload for .45 Colt and .38 Special but haven't gotten into reloading shot shells yet. |
