I am weighing my options here. I've looked into the 16 ga. Dehaan O/U's. I know they are made by Huglu. I have a 12ga CZ Redhead dlx that is also made by Huglu and so far I've had good luck with it. At any rate Dehaan lists the weight at 7.2 lbs, has fixed chokes, extractors, 2yr warranty and costs around $900 if I am not mistaken. The 16 ga. Verona 501 from what I gather is made by F.A.I.R.weighs in about 7lbs, has choke tubes, ejectors, warranty???, and runs about $650. Has anyone got an opinion pro/con on either gun ? what's the difference between the F.A.I.R. 16 ga. that Cabela's is listing for about $1400 and the verona LX-501? Or I might just say the heck with both of them and try and wait for a 525 browning if and when they become available although they are alot more $$$. I am just looking for a good servicable hunting gun.
Thanks
Scott

I have a friend who shoot a 28 and 410 o/u which he seems real happy with both guns. We shoot several rounds of skeet a month and the gun have given him no problems. If I want a 16 and didn't want to wait I think I would go for the Verona. Both are not on true 16 gauge frames other wise I would hold out for something that would have some collectors value along the way. Just do what you do. Bill

saw,
Get the DeHaan. The fact that it does not have choke tubes is a blessing in disguise. It has I.C. and Mod. chokes which are perfect for anything you want to do w/ it. If you are a reloader, use the Ballistic Products SP16 wad for open patterns and the B.P. trap16 wad for tighter patterns. As fpr the weight, you will not notice it. The U2 O/U w/ the gold inlays is a beautiful gun and mine works flawlessly. The fact that it has exactractors is another blessing (one less mechanical thing to potentially go wrong). Someone on one of the forums said that it balanced and felt better that a Citori. I have several Citori's (though none in 16) and I must agree.
However, your decision is the one you have to live with.

the dehaan is on a true sixteen gauge frame. i own two de haans a 20 sxs and a 28 sxs, both are truly great guns. i have talked to mark de haan and am going to order an s2 in sixteen. i just haven't made up my mind on weather to get full scroll engraving or case colored receivers yet.
