About 3 weeks ago I bought a Winchester Model 42 .410 ga. pump, 26" Barrel, modified choke. I'd say it's in about 75% condition, made in 1954, and mechanically solid. Most of the wear is around the receiver where the previous owner carried it. But he also carved a few more grooves in the forend than Oliver Winchester's boys originally put there. The wood in the buttstock/forend is a pleasing dark brown. I keep shooting 22's and 23's at skeet with this little gun and I'd like to get an original replacement forend, one made in the same period that this gun was. I have a near-exact duplicate of this model that is almost perfect and I don't want to shoot it; but I wouldn't mind dressing up my old one a little.
Does anyone know of a source for original wood for model 42's /model 12's? Thanks---- |

Thank you, pumpgun, for your reference to a site on e-bay in regard to finding a nice used forend for my Model 42 Winchester. The seller, from Missouri, did describe the Model 42 wood accurately and the price was reasonable. Also he shipped promptly, and the color matches the buttstock very well. Now to get it installed. Thanks again. |
