Interesting though to know that Hawkins pads were being added in 36' at the factory. Galazan sells repro pads but they are heavier than modern pads and change the balance of the gun. Galazan's are also black and the original Hawkins were brick red. |

Rev,
Sorry if my post was confusing; I only meant that the gun left the factory without a recoil pad; it was added by somebody later. It is an old model Hawkins, but it wasn't put on at the factory.

Rev,
That is a nice gun, Considering that the owner, Doug Mann, is a stock guy and probably did his own wood work. He is really good. He's got my 16 gauge Elsie hammer gun now. |

There are several days left. The prices asked for small gauge Foxes just keeps going up and up. I saw a Savage era Sterlingworth 16 gauge with 28 inch barrels at the gun show in Kansas City this past weekend priced at $2600.00 and a 20 gauge priced at $2900.00. Both were 90% guns but man this is getting crazy. At this rate I may have to stop buying Foxes and go for something less costly like Lefevers. |

Lafever sorta sounds French. Aren't we supposed to be boycotting them? |

So, I sent my 16 ga. Sterlingworth to Keith Kearcher (Parker Trojan, thanks for the recommendation) in Oregon. Safety was resetting with each shot. He re-jointed barrels, and did some welding and refitting on the rotary bolt. It works now. Also had barrels measured and confirmed Mod+ in right and Full+ in left barrel.
The most amazing part, to me, was the gun got there on July 19, left his shop on the 26th, and showed up at my house exactly two weeks after I sent it out!
Seeing the above posts about prices makes me think I got a pretty good deal. Not a 90% gun, but pretty nice. No case coloring to speak of, couple of small dings in the stock that should steam out, and some buggered screws BUT I paid about 1/3 of the $bid on the gun Rev linked to.

Doc,
Mr too. When I got mine I thought maybe I was paying a little too much (and maybe I did, at the time). But today it looks like a bargain !
