Tom, I don't think you're there yet. All I get is a site that allows me to set up an account and post pictures. I can't get to your pictures. |

I'd like to there PF, but i don't have your password. However, I did enjoy the photo titled "Daniel's biday" Now that is what I call a matched pair. |

Finally--I was beginning to think those photos were classified or something!
Tom, I have good news and bad news for you. The bad news . . . your gun is not a twin to mine. Exact same design, but the engraving is very different. Yours is all scroll, mine is vine and leaf with fine scroll background. The good news: from a previous discussion over on gunshop.com, I think yours may actually be a 30E rather than a 25E. Someone else came up with a twin to mine, described as a 25E, and then I think someone posted a pic of a gun like yours, described as a 30E. You might check on the Francotte threads over there. |

Larry - I checked out that thread on the other forum and I didn't see anything over there that was identical to mine. This Francotte identity quest is daunting.

Tom, your proofmarks are identical to mine, except for 2 9/16" vs the 2 5/8" on my gun. Those marks would have been for guns imported to the
States (mine by Von Lengerke & Detmold, New York--yours probably too), and I think they simply mismarked mine. 2 5/8" was the old 12ga standard length, 2 9/16" was the 16ga standard.
Go to gunsamerica.com and search for Francottes. You may find a 30E over there. I know I saw one somewhere recently on the Net, and I think the engraving was identical to yours. |

Larry - This was the nearest match I could find on GunsAmerica. Is this a match for yours? The serial number would appear to indicate a newer gun than mine. Perhaps Francotte changed the engraving from year to year, but maintained the same model designation.

prettyfoto--how did you get the picture in your post, rather than having to go to a different site to view it? |

You need to find a website that will host your image free, PhotoBucket is one.
Then after you've uploaded it, Photobucket will list your photo(s) with three options 1) url 2) tag 3) img. If you click on the [img] and copy it then paste it to your text msg, it should show up.
I know this seems a bit convoluted, but I couldn't figure out the combination
as it is on this site.
Hope this helps. |
