Last night we went to the new and huge Fleet Farm that just opened in the area. They hunting and fishing section was massive. They had a display of Federal gameloads for something like $3.39 a box. I looked the entire display up and down but they only had 12's and 20's. I called the 19 year oldish clerk over and asked him if they had anything in 16 at that price. The young man informed me that the 16 gauge is an old and rare gauge and if I wanted any I really had to expect to pay more for for it.
Not wanting to enter into a battle of wits with an unarmed man I kindly suggested that Federal does offer the cheap game load in 16 and it was just a matter of stocking it. He pointed out the few boxes of Federal premiums along with some other heavy loads and said that was about all I could expect.
During the discussion a REALLY good looking lady clerk heard I was looking for "16 gauge at $3 something a box". She came up to me with a box of Federal 16 gauge slugs and said " sir , these are only $2.39 a box"
Well she was so damn pretty all I could do was say thank you and take the box.
Yes I bought them. For $2.39 it was a small price to pay to make the lady feel good about her job.
I forgot I do not own a 16 gauge slug gun until I put them on my
shelf.
Maybe she was the KGB lady!!!!

Well that give's you an excuse to go back and see your good looking lady friend again.
Make her feel really important and have her order you a case or two of the 16ga Federal game loads, usually Farm and Fleet is pretty good about ordering things for customers. |

Never heard of farm fleet. Is that only a mid-western chain? I've got an old 16 gauge single barrel that has been converted into a slug gun. I wish she wroked down here. I'd buy some slugs for it. (And I don't even deer hunt)
Ever hear of Publix Super Markets?

As my former boss the Bank Chairman of the Board always used to say, "It's all in how it's presented".............. |
