I bought two boxes of Federal 7/8 ounce (16 ga) loads. These have 3-1/4 drams of powder. They seem to have a louder report and more recoil than one ounce Federals. Does anyone know the preesure rating??? Mike |

Pressure is within limits-you are simply pushing a lighter shot charge faster and it sounds "strange" same thing if it were backwards and you went from a light load to a field load |

Mike, since they're nearly 250 fps faster than the 1 oz Feds, it's no surprise the recoil may seem sharper to you. That much additional velocity may well more than make up for the 1/8 oz difference in payload.
I keep meaning to send off a few to have them pressure tested. I've been to the Federal factory, and I know they pressure test their shells, so they'll certainly be within SAAMI standards, which means a maximum of 11,500 psi. I certainly would not recommend shooting them in an older British or European gun that was not proofed for higher pressure American ammo. |

they may have a little extra zing, but for long 5-stand and going away rabbit presentations, they sure make a nice cloud of dust. |
