The price isn't surprising. Re-loaders don't let go of them very often. When they come up for sale a selling price between .30 and .50 is not uncommon. I have a few thousand and haven't sold any yet. They are the best to reload and with the original Winchester wad they work fine and last a long time.

Lucky I bought 500 for $50 a few years ago. I have a couple bags of the original Win wads. They work well with Rem SP16 wads also, which are always available. |

Also, Claybuster has been offering a well made WW16AA clone wad for several years now. The original wad was specifically designed for the compression formed 16 ga Winchester AA hull. |

Stupidity reigns supreme.
For that kind of money, the buyer could have purchased more than a case of new ammo, and ended up with the hulls. |

Winchester CF 16 hulls and wads were good, but they aren't and were never magical. What was good about the CF hulls was that they are forgiving and you could hardly mess up reloading them. A CF hull is just about crush proof, and the rest of the adjustments on a reloader just need to be close. Other hulls require a bit more attention on the adjustment side of things.
As far as longevity, Cheddites last longer for me than any Winchester CF ever has.
As far as ballistics, I'll take a Federal or Cheddite any day over a Winchester CF.
Just my 2 cents. |

What he said.

The posting doesn't say if they are CF or not- I'd suspect the purchaser would be disappointed if he paid his $100 and got a box of polyformed. |

The very best Winchester hulls, were polyformed, when Winchester had their ammo made in Italy in 2000 or so. Those hulls reloaded perfectly and were tough. I still have some O.F. and some with about 8 reloads on them and they are still perfect.
BUT I still wouldn't pay $100.00 for 300 of them.
Everytime folks start proving that they will pay stupid prices for stuff.......we all end up being over charged. |

The CF's are smooth, the rest are ribbed. I once had a bunch of them, but they are gone now, I still have hundreds of the old 12 gauge polyformed and they are ribbed also. |

I didn't mean ID'ing Polyform in general, I meant ID'ing those that Mark was referencing. |
