Although not about my now favorite 16 ga. model 90, some of you might be interested in reading my article about hunting with my 12 ga. Model 90 and some old paper shell reloads published in a recent edition of the on-line magazine, Sporting Classics Daily. http://sportingclassicsdaily.com/hunt-for-dad/ |

Thanks, I grew up about 25 miles south of Springfield. My wife has family around Campbellsville, Columbia and Greensburg, Ky. |

You are quite fortunate. Each year I take Dad's Weatherby Olympian out on a sage grouse hunt. It's pretty personal. My Dad loved bird hunting but by time I took up hunting in my teens, his health was such that he no longer could.
My entire bird "hunting with Dad" career consisted of a single covey rise of sage grouse. Dad shouldered the Weatherby, doubled, then turned back and went to lean on the side of my old Ford truck. He was having trouble breathing. With the help of the family dog, I retrieved his two grouse and my one.
I will never forget the words he spoke. "I was doing real good until I remembered I can't breathe anymore". The rest of the afternoon he watched me hunt alone while he rested in the truck.
Once again, Barkey, you are very fortunate to have spent the time afield with your Dad that you did spend. Always hold tight to those memories. |

Great article. Those we share our experiences with are always the best part of the hunt, being dogs, friends, or family... |

Thanks to everyone for your comments. With dad gone, and at age 74, I feel fortunate to still be able to hunt and make new memories with my nephew. Perhaps after I am gone, he will remember some special times that he had bird hunting with me. |
