My wife who is a SXS clays shooter would like a 16 gauge. Does anyone know if browning made the BSS in 16 gauge? Also, Did SKB make a 16 gauge SXS? Any info appreciated. Another option might be a model 21 but there a little pricy. She has an odd fitting spec and usually needs an adjustable comb. |

I've never seen any of the Japanese SKB SxS guns in 16ga. (Doesn't mean they didn't make them just that I've never seen any or literature on them.) The current Turkish SKB SxS guns aren't offered in 16ga but AKUS (maker of the SKB guns) seems to list 16ga SxS guns under the Dickinson name. Try www.dickinsonarms.com. They offer several grades with variations in barrel length, stock design etc etc.
I've got one of the AKUS SKB guns in 28ga and for 2K, its pretty darn nice. Turkish guns are variable. However these don't seem bad at all.

Good job Mike on the Miroku 16. She prefers ejectors but extractors would work. George |

Is she OK with double triggers? Being a sxs shooter, I'd think so, but not everyone warms up to them. Very few sxs with choke tubes, of course, so that makes SC a bit tougher, although IC/Mod will cover most shots. Being most sxs with IC/Mod are 26" barrels, the quest comes to what barrel length are you hunting?
Most clay shooters like 30-32" barrels it seems. Although shooting to have fun and shooting to win can be a factor in choice.
Beretta Silverhawk?
I think one of the post war sauer boxlocks with chokes opened a bit might be a decent option. Triple lock, usually not too much DaC, and enough stock to work with. Going to be DT, but 29" barrels are easy to find. F/M could be a decent SC gun with one pocket filled with spreader loads. Just a thought.
Finding a CSMC RBL with pistol grip and single trigger would seem to be the ticket here. Not sure of budget though. |

An Uggie might work as well. |

If I won the lottery I would see if Kirk Merrington could make a set of 16 gauge barrels for a 20 gauge BSS frame. Why? Just because. It would be reliable, that's for sure.

Jeff, That's a pricy solution. We missed you at TOT. How's your health? George |

Was at the new Cabelas in El Paso yesterday. There is an Uggie 26 inch barrels mod/imp. Could be something you would want? 16 of course. |

The closest you will come to an SKB 16 gauge SxS is one of the CSMC RBL models. The action and barrel blocks are made by SKB for CSMC. Prices for used seem to start at around $3900.
However, one of the AyA Matador 16 ga models imported by Firearms International, Washington DC might be an excellent and affordable choice. I own one and it's a dandy for the price I paid for it. Mine is a 1961 gun, and has been 100% reliable in every way from day one.
I recommend looking for one of the 16 gauge Matties made from 1960 to 1963 when they were discontinued. A number of improvements were made at the request and with the technical assistance of the importer including a more reliable barrel selector system and better quality in general. You can look up the AyA year of manufacture codes stamped on the barrels on line. |

Good ideas. I do prefer 28 inch barrels for her clay shooting. |

I checked my RBL and it is not marked with a SKB or any other foreign proof mark. It is marked RBL PROOF. |
