Where are all the labs?!?! Here is a pic of my 8 month old (around 5 months in the pics) going out on his first few days of duck and goose hunting. He hated not seeing the birds come in so he was peeking out over the top of the blind. Note: not me in the picture.

Don't know if a pic of a lab can be any cuter than that. Great photo.
Steve, nice pics of Chase. Wish I'd been able to meet him last October but the pile of other dogs were pretty good. How about some pics of those boys.
Gil, I have to stop Scout from looking over my shoulder so she doesn't get any ideas....what! wait! Where the hell is she? Oh crap, I haven't made my bed this morning so she's crawled under the covers with her head on my pillow. I hate when that happens! |

WYO Chukar,
Thanks for asking about the old boy - I miss him badly.
No sir Sampson was a real German Small Munsterlander out of Singpel Stock. GVP points over 300. One of the greatest Grouse/Versatile hunting dogs I ever owned. He would be 22 years old this years. Sampson sired some great litters and was a pure hunting machine. Hand signal Trained, he was incredible, ranged 400 yards and check back instinctively. No collar ever need. He took no foolishness from any other dog, after living thru a massive male Coydog attack, while Grouse hunting in Somerset County, Pa.
Sampson produced the only Scotch True Double Grouse, I ever Shot and retrieved both to hand at the same time.
If you want a dog that produces big time birds and game and protects the home and family also, look up Dean Rasmussen at Lonesome Dove Kennels, he still produces great SM dogs a little at a time.
Pine Creek/Dave
Sampson with one of his true Grouse Doubles, this one Taken with my 1913 L.C. 16 Gauge Smith Hammer Gun. Sampson was a big Small Munsterlander male dog, and hunted quick, more like a wolf than tame gun dog.

Canvasback,
Thanks! The only photo that I think can contend with it was when I met Logan for the first time just before he could open his eyes....

Who would've thought that in 8 months he would turn into this 70 lb monster!

He is about as strong as a linebacker and has unstoppable drive[/img] |

For those of us that have had more than one child, you wiil understand that the first born gets most of the videos and photos taken. The next few,not so many. So it is with my dogs. The first is Abby pointing a woodcock in the wide open. The bird is three feet from her nose. It can't be seen in the photo. Floyd nailed it. The bottom is probably the best, or put another way, my favorite dog photo. It's a dawn dove shoot 4 winters ago on a cold, windy day. Abby had the good sense to get out of the wind. I didn't and paid the consequences with an epic cold the next two weeks. The gun, a 16 gauge, M-12, 1957, maybe '59. There were four guns on the field that morning and we got into the birds pretty good. A good morning (no pun intended) dove hunt is something to behold. Gil

An update on my big 8 year old renegade GSP, Bode. We ran a Quail Unlimited field trial today in Joplin, MO and that dog put down a super first run under the Upland Classic trial rules to win first place, despite a surgically repaired leg (TPLO), and a 6 month rehab layoff. I think my buddy is back, even if his conditioning is not what it was before the injury, the heart is as big as ever. I sure do love that big dog.

Steve, that's a great pack of bird dogs you got there. Lots of fun hunting with them...can't wait to get back and do it again. |
