In Ancient Greece there were those who were eligible to vote and those who were not. Those who were eligible and did not were referred to as “idiotos”, the Latin origin of the modern word “idiot.”
I care less who each of you vote for or why than I do about your participation in this most patriotic of opportunities to take part in our democracy.
Don’t be an idiot, get to the polls and vote today!

I would like to add that it is your duty to vote. There are a lot of dead soldiers that sacrificed there life so that you could be free and vote. Don' let the minority of professional politicians decide our fate. It take 10 minutes every other year to ensure freedom and be heard. |

No argument from me on the importance of voting. It is the first duty you owe to your community and country. And thank you to all who did vote. However, since this is a discussion on the act of voting and not who or what to vote for, I think there is a dichotomy to it that should be addressed.
If the right to vote is a fundamental right because it allows us our system of democratic representative governance, why do we make it difficult to vote?
Why isn’t election day a national holiday? Shouldn’t we celebrate Election Day for the right that so many of our forefathers faught and died for? Having the day off makes it easier for a person to exercise this right.
Shouldn’t there be redundencies in the system, such as both a paper and electronic trail?
Think about it, if banks can track money and assets to the degree that they do, because it’s a big problem if they can account for people’s money, why can’t we do that with our vote and ballots? Why do we use 50 different systems that have nothing to do with each other?
It seems to me that the powers that be do nothing to make the act more easier to accomplish and in some cases , more difficult, while on the other side of their face, regal us on how important it is to vote. |

1333 posts you've made since you joined in 2013. Just in case you missed it, the 16GA forum has a rule against posting politics which your post falls into.
FYI, https://www.businessinsider.com/state-economy-ranking-q1-2018-2
NY is doing just fine and better then many other States that may have a different political view. |

OK fellas; let's not take this where these threads normally go, huh? It's OK occasionally to just ignore something and walk away. |

I voted democrat in my local elections last week.
I voted for neither Hillary nor Chump in 2016.
I have killed and ate a lot of wild critters in the last two months.
Some of which succumbed at the muzzle blast of one of my two 16 ga's.
What label do those things bestow upon me?
Think I'll take my lab/griffon mutt, my pickup with 180,000 miles and maybe my semiauto Benelli shotgun out and slaughter some tasty birds tomorrow.... |
