I'm searching for Simson double barrel shotgun parts. Specifically a forend and not finding anyone. I'm not sure of the model, it's not here yet. Will post more pictures this weekend. Any idea on model? Who carries parts? I'm willing to fit one that's close.

Pre-war Simson...not going to be easy. The iron was different for those guns. A real Simson...before the family was forced out of the business. |

May have to make one. Some pictures would help. It's in really nice condition. Would hate to part this out. |

Better picture. Would be great if I could find one that's close. Seems like this has separate ejectors. Would be tough to make that.

Good luck. You'll need it.
It's not the worst problem in the world, but it's a tough one. Your best bet for a lead on how to follow up would be on the German gun page at the doublegun forum, or with the German Gun Collectors page.
Making one would likely be the most likely solution, but in all likelihood it would cost several times what the gun is worth. If you can find an old one with clapped out barrels, such that it would be a good parts gun, you might be able to salvage the fore-end iron for your use.
Still. Not the worst problem.
You want a world-ender fore-end problem? I was at a gunsmith friend's today and he had it. There's this matched pair of Purdeys, one with sleeved barrels. When anonymous guy did the sleeving years ago, the hook wound up about 1/16 or so too close to the breech end, such that it goes together fine until you try to close it. Then, it won't close. (That may have been his solution to putting it on face.) The problem only became evident when we laid the two sets of barrels side-by-side. Then it stuck out like the proverbial sore thumb. Cheapest solution, well, not cheap. Say "least expensive" solution: a whole new set of barrels. |

From Tradeexcanada's website:
"PLEASE NOTE: We do not ship to the USA"
Take a look at Simpson's in Galesburg - they might have a suitable parts gun. |
