5S 54XXX "Sweet Sixteen".
Need some attention. barrel has bulges on it, bluing faded, loose forearm left strips on the barrel. Baarrel needs a kerosene soak, to clear the previous years shot residue, but no pitting evident.
Bolt face and OD have extra layer of crud. action will need a SOAKING.
Friction ring and mag tube OD need detailing.
Forearm got cleaning with "SCOTTS" liguid gold, LOOK NICE. Stock is waiting its turn.
Barrrel is 16/70 marked on the 9 o'clock position need to check the Proof mark for correct year. Single "*" for choke {Full}.
Stay tune., for more coming as it gets attention! |

Better to have a Sweet in need of love than no Sweet at all |

Having fun with screw!! Broke a new Brownells driver bit trying loosen the lock screws.
Will try to modify the busted bit and carry on, did drop"KanoKroil' on the srew but will try a soldering gun to screw head.
Rtying to remove stock, when this occrred.
Got two to losed but very NOISY!.
Barrel cleaned nicely, have minor pit i the chamber.
Two bulges: one complete ring @ 8.5 inched form muzzle and second a patrial @ 3.25 inches from muzzle. |

Rings in the muzzle end? Sounds like the perfect non-tox barrel |

Tried "kano Kroil" but don't want to saok the wood/.
Ordered two replacements of the bits?
Try to leave overnight in freezer then use a 50W soldering pen onit ???
Previous owner must have been tryingto make a "blunderbuss" out of the barrel.
Once the stock is off, then the action is getting soaked in kerosene. |

Are you going to put the bit in the quill/chuck of a drill press? |

Just need more penetrating oil first, and then made a jig to keep vertical on the screw axis. |

Took barrel to a Grand rapids smith and found ut the barrel for ttehlast ten inches is BENT!
Smith wil not try to correct.
So, I'm looking for a Sweet 16 barrel.
Finally ggot the stock off and gget the remaing parts into a bath of kerosene! |

Bent barrel?
Well after re-assembly, see how she shoots.
If NOT in the area needed, there is a trick to adjust point of aim
