Just found this one in a small shop in maine!
It's an 11-48, 28" barrel/full
The pictures don't really do it justice, but boy oh boy is it a beauty!
As far as I can tell it was manufactured in October of 1956!!!! WOW!!!
I picked it up for $300!
Enjoy the pics, and I will try to get better shots for y'all |

That's a great find, Yellow Dog!
Buys like that can be found, but it takes patience to find them or allow them to appear!
Enjoy! |

thanks,
I stumbled onto that one on Gunsamerica. The owner [dealer] wanted $400, but I was able to get him down to $300 only after making the offer and waiting a month with no other bites on it. I guess he wanted to move it for the $$$ B4 Xmas....
I'll post some better shots today! |

Very nice, Yellowdog! That should be a nice, light, sweet handling shotgun.
Lately, I've been interested in older 16 gauge American repeaters. I've got an old Remington 11 (that many of you have read about and looked at ad nauseum), and I'm soon going to pick up another "Nickel Steel" Winchester Model 12 in of course, 16 gauge.
That's the neat thing about shotguns. There are so many tangents and themes that a person can follow.
Maybe we ought to have a shootoff with those rascally English 16 dudes! America vs England. Winner takes all the guns!
That sounds fair to me. Does that sound fair to you? |

Dave,
I agree with you about the older American repeaters. Just something about them.
I just picked up a 1956 Rem 870 in 16 ga for $189. Refinished the wood, and it looks great. 28" mod barrel. And then, just a couple of days ago, found an 11-48 on an internet auction site (monsterguns.com): 28", modified. Not sure of the date yet. I don't want to make Yellow Dog feel bad, so won't say what I paid, but I should be arrested for Grand Theft Gun.
Next on the list is a rem mod 11. Found one I like, but it's full choke. Somebody on this site once said they wouldn't have any qualms about having the gun fitted by Briley's for interchangeable chokes. Any thoughts on that.? Is it do-able? Is it conscionable?

Yellow dog,
She's real purty awright!
If you have access to an accurate scale, I'd love to know what she weighs.

Sorry boys, this one's a stayin......
I'm hoping to get it out right after the first of the year for some grouse and perhaps a late pheasant. |

I'll work on the scale, but If I had to guess, I'd say about between 5-6.5 lb.
Remmies history site doesn't say.
