Hello Charles,
I do believe shotguns perform better with light loads, to a point. The question is, at what point is light too light?
Just curious, what would be your ideal pheasant load for a vintage gun (under 9k psi)?

Going Bowfishing this evening , so will not comment much .
To answer your question their is no ideal load , Choke , Gun , ect . ect . ect . EVER !!!
They are all a compromise ,
I have already shared with you my loads .
