A friend of mine wants a used single trigger 16ga o/u that I can fix up for him. He doesn't like double triggers, and he doesn't like Citori's because of the polyurethane finish. i'm not an o/u guy so I'm not sure what's out there. I do know he probably won't be interested in huglu's or other low end guns. Any input is appreciated.

So he's looking for a "fixer-upper" that's not low end, that has an oil finish, that is an O/U and has a single trigger? That may be tough to find. In new and "as new" guns, Cabelas has 16ga O/Us with single triggers, e.g.

I'd maybe have your friend browse gunbroker.com, the Cabelas and Basspro gun listings & etc. If he's holding out on the fixer-upper aspect, he'll have to be patient.

I have a very nice 16 gauge F.A.I.R. Rizzini 900 with English stock and single trigger and choke tubes. It is a very nice gun though I seldom use it having become partial to my SxS's. I wouls sell it but it is in excellent condition and in htat sense won't fir your needs. You might look for a similar gun in need of fixinf up.

Thanks, I think he shoots a Rizzini now and is looking for something different. I think a Citori with the finish removed and re-done may be the best option.

if you can find a Gran Lightning for sale, you won't need to refinish. The wood has what I would call a satin finish as opposed to a high gloss.
Problem is finding one!

Thanks! The only problem with most of these o/u's is they are too darned heavy. The 525 weighs well over 7 lbs. He's now considering a st sxs, which opens up a lot more choices. As a new 16ga guy, I think he would most enjoy its benefits if it weighed around 6.5 lbs. We're going to do some chukar and hun hunting together, and a light gun is important. I would think the $1500-3k price range is what he's looking at. Something nice but not so nice that he won't hunt with it. I'm thinking maybe the new fausti dea roundbody? Not sure what it weighs though. Are there any new 16ga single trigger sxs's besides 1620's that weigh around 6.5lbs or less?

OK UDF
Changing the playing rules
Now you want a light wand, without shiny finish, but maybe not an O/U but possibly a SXS but maybe not, but possibly. Still single trigger on the SXS?

Bring me a rock. Very Happy

You could convert these to single trigger

Good luck

Some reason he can't just get a Citori re-finished or do it himself?

Well you do not say what gun?

But I would start here

After that, you have to know someone, who likes you and has some parts Very Happy

i have a nice 16 ga rizzini . i have been thinking of selling it
to buy a sxs. it has an oil finished straight grip stock, choke
tubes and weights around 6 lbs. it is in excellent condition so
it`s not a fixer up gun. i have a problem with raising my head
off the stock because of the english grip. a gun you can carry
all day at 6 lbs. 1650.00 if any interest.
